Oh How I Love Stupid People!

Before I begin this post, let me just preface it with "Don't freak out...I'm okay." and "Yes, life sucks, but I'm okay."

Yesterday I got home to find out my house had been broken into. Yay! They (we'll call them Robber Bob and Robber Rob...I'm just assuming there were two and that they were men...I know nothing about them), okay so they pried open my back door and tore up the door frame and part of the wall because the door had been dead bolted. They took my DVD player, all my DVDs (minus a few that were placed in other locations), my digital camera, and some cash. They went through my closet and my drawers looking for I don't know what. Jewelry? Money? Electronics? Really. Did they not know what neighborhood they were in? If I had enough jewelry or money to hide in my underwear drawer, why would I be living HERE? And really, do people keep expensive things in their underwear drawer in real life? I mean, I know they do that kind of stuff in the movies, but usually it's the rich rich people who do that in the movies, not people who live in the ghetto. Stupid. But, I love their stupidity. I love the fact that that's all they took. What do I care about a bunch of DVDs I never watch anymore? I love that they didn't smash or destroy anything. I love that they left everything they looked through open (including the air conditioning closet) so that the police knew what to dust for fingerprints. I love that they left a huge handprint on the backdoor. I love that they took what was on top and didn't dig deeper and find any of my credit cards. And Millie was in love with them because she had the entire day to go in and out as she pleased because they left the door open for her.

Anyways, I didn't write this so that you could feel sorry for me or have pity on me. Honestly, I thought this would be the easiest way to let people know that there will be no more movie nights at my house (like there ever was before) and not have to repeat my story 1,000 times.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go finish the laundry I started last night because I have to wash everything Robber Bob and Robber Rob touched with their grimy hands.

My sister was robbed this year. They took about the same stuff, DVD's and player. They also got her laptop, which sucks. If our computer ever got stolen, I'd have a complete nervous breakdown and I'm not kidding. That's where all my writing projects are. The difference with my sister was the robber used to work maintenance at the apartment complex so he was able to get a key to get in.

I'm glad you and Millie are okay. It totally stinks that someone just came in your house and had their way with things. You should have Alison come over so she can stand watch with the AK47. Not that she can do anything after the fact, but it could feel good to talk about shooting people. Or is that just me?

Man, that stinks!!! Glad they didn't take too much though, and I'm super glad you weren't home. That is one of my worst fears, to be home when someone breaks into my house. At least they didn't trash the place too. I would have been so pissed to have to clean that crap up!
Janette has tons of movies, if ya get bored, you can always go keep her and Bailey company and watch their movies! :)

I like the AK-47 idea. Yes, even more reason for us to get to gun safety school. (I have looked a little by the way, but they all look questionable, I think I'll ask Pritchard for recommendations.) Anyhoo, I'm glad you're not hurt. I think I would have a melt down if they took my DVDs. I heart my movies waaaaaay too much, but I'd be most annoyed with my door being all jacked up. sigh. I'm sorry, Rhia. Let's go shooting. :)

Holy Schnikies!!!

DId they take your Twilight? Cause if they really knew what was valuable.......

I love that they thought they might need to take your A/C also. Maybe they thought you had something cool like .....cleaning equipment in there.

Oh R.J! I just read this after looking at your status on Facebook. Not the kind of excitement you need in life! I am so glad that you are ok! I mean really, what do these robbers think they are going to do with all your DVD's? Ridiculous! If you ever need a good watch dog in the future you can borrow Dulce! Oh and you can borrow my DVD's too! :-) Take care girl.

OH MY GOSH! SCARY!I am alone with my kids a lot, and I am usually never afraid. But other women tell me how that hate to be alone and take the phone in one hand and dial 9-1 on the phone and then hold their thumb over the one, then they methodically check all the windows and doors and closets for "bad guys" and then they are poised and ready if they find anything to push the 1 and immediately get emergency services. Maybe they're smarter than I am.

I guess we know what to get you for Christmas, now! I recommend a wishlist on Amazon.com.

Soooo... I guess DVD's are on the Christmas list ( because I'm too poor to get you a digital camera). I would FREAK out if my movie collection was stolen. You are a far better woman than me.

YUK! nothing like having someone go through your stuff. Seriously though, now you can just give up on tv entertainment and ... they left all your books which are way better!

No DVDs! I don't want anymore DVDs. I am doing just fine without them...pretty much the same as before which tells you just how important they were to me. When I said, "Don't freak out...I'm okay." I really meant that. Life is good people.
