It's Like I Never Left

So this week was the first week of school for most of the United States, including my little elementary school nestled in the ghetto of good old Dallas. It's funny because each year I decide to be better and do a better job, but I have begun to realize that a lot of things still remain the same. Here they are in no particular order:

1. Mrs. N. came through the library yesterday and declared that it looked bare without her plants and said that she would bring them to make it look better. Personally, I think it looks just fine (and actually quite cute with my new blue curtains to offset the terrible yellow and red that they didn't choose to repaint this summer). Here is the evidence:
2. I only managed to make it on time three times this week. I was late again today as evidenced by the post-it note stuck to my computer. People just leave me notes because I'm never here early.

3. Last year I spent an entire morning taking all the keys off my keyboard and cleaning because there were crumbs in between the keys and it just grossed me out. Inadvertently, I switched the period and comma keys and have yet to switch them back. Sometimes I accidentally put the wrong punctuation in my sentences.

4. I also have yet to change the nameplate that is gorilla glued on the outside of the library. New teachers kept calling me Mrs. War and it would always throw me for a loop. If I could remember to get up a little earlier in the mornings, maybe I could remember to bring the red paint I bought to change that.

5. I am back to my old eating habits. Here we have the breakfast of champions: A chocolate chip muffin and a Coke.

6. And finally, my favorite screen saver...

The curtains are great! Tell Mrs. N. to shove it this year. :) I'm glad I'm not the only one that has habits that never change despite my good intentions.

#4: Welcome to my world. I always love when people ask my last name. I have to say, "Ware", then I automatically commence to spell it because NO ONE can figure it out on their own. At least you'll always know :)

Oh, and it's your library. If Mrs. N-e'er do well wants plants she can put them in HER room. In fact, if she brings them in against your will, just wait until she's left, take them out, and set them outsider her room. Maybe she'll get the point. Ah passive-agression. It's the best.

This post was 1. hillarious; 2. priceless; and 3. my favorite, by far, so far. I love the blue curtains. When will we see some green to complete the primary colors scheme?

P.S. You should tell Mrs. N. that her plants have gone to heaven, and to the nametag on the door that says, "Ware" you should add the words, "is no longer there."

(My goodness, those word verfication letters I have to enter have almost fallen over. What HAVE they been drinking?)

I think you should leave the Ware sign up so that in 10 years or so, when Matt comes to take your librarian job, he won't have to change the sign. Just a suggestion.

Nobody that knows you is surprised you are late. Still beating the snot out of your alarm clock? I used to fear for your clocks life. And you don't have to keep the plants if you don't want. You should re-gift then to the teacher that gives then to you. Oh, and cute curtains.

Sadly, yes. The alarm clock still gets a beatin' every morning.

ah, isn't it nice to be 'home' again?

I do like the curtains and I say you should tell Mrs. N to keep her needy plants to herself.

I can't read what the sticky note says, but I'm sure it's incendiary. Also, please tell Mrs N that if she brings in the plants, you will kill them. Thirdly, we have GOT to paint this library! No wonder our children are growing more illiterate! Who could read in a room so ghastly painted.
