So...Maybe I Should Get A Dog...

I'm just thinking about it. Really...just thinking. See, I went over to my parent's house earlier this week and they have taken in this really adorable dog that just kind of wandered up to their front door a few months ago. His name is Chester and here is what he looks like:

Of course he's a little fatter now. This was taken about a month or so ago and it breaks my heart but you can see his ribs in this pic. Anyways, so that's the first reason...I've fallen in love with my parents dog.

The second reason is that I was doing dishes this morning and I looked out the window and noticed that the back gate was open...hmmm... I don't ever leave the gate open...so I went out there to close it and as I was coming back towards the house, I noticed that one of the side gates was open. I was kind of weirded out by this. Cause Millie was meowing like crazy and would stop the other night. It could be that I just left the gates open after mowing the yard the other day but it could also mean that someone cut through my yard and decided it would be extra creepy to leave the gates open so that I would know they did it.

Are you totally creeped out now? Yeah...I guess if I had a million dollars I would move my house, yard and all, to a really nice neighborhood that you have to have a secret code to get into.

No...no I wouldn't do that. Then I would have to deal with an HOA...I'd much rather have people cutting through my yard than an HOA.

Okay so maybe I should just get a dog. What do you think Millie would think about that?

I love dogs! I hate the whole concept of an HOA. They seem more annoying then helpful in a lot of scenarios. Why should I have to ASK someone if it's ok to paint my house a certain color? How should it be legal that I can be fined for not having two trees in my front yard? I don't know, but if I OWN the property, I should be able to whatever the heck I want to do with it. Grrrrr. Yeah, don't move, just get a dog to protect the yard.

P.S. It is creepy to find your gates open. *shudder*

Then again- if you have thieves and freaks in your neighborhood and a fence that can be easily opened- your dog might get stolen or picked on. You might need to beef up your fence security.

I had a rabbit stolen and killed and then put back in my yard in my neighborhood by some freak kids many years ago with our old fence which was a full wood fence but with easy to open from the outside gates. Our fence now is like Fort Knox to open form the outside.

better go with something fierce, like a rottweiler.

Rhia, get a doggie! Matt and I are taking my friend's dog, Lola because she can't keep her anymore. She's a lab mix and I'm really excited. You know I wouldn't even stay at my apartment alone for like a month before we got married, right. I know if I had a dog then I would have felt better about it. I think just hearing a dog from a house, it can deter people. Think about it!!!
